Christ Church, Gilbert Trail, Monkey Point sunset, and the Timber Trail cable car — a full 2-day plan for a weekend escape to Kasauli.
Kasauli is one of the most accessible hill stations in North India — just 65 km (about 2 hours) from Chandigarh, or roughly 280 km (6-7 hours) from Delhi via the Chandigarh-Kalka highway. Leave Delhi early on Saturday morning and you'll be checking into your apartment by early afternoon, with the whole of Sunday free before the drive back.
The final stretch from Dharampur up to Kasauli is a winding hill road, so time your drive to arrive before dark if you're not used to mountain driving.
Check in, unpack, and take a slow walk down Mall Road to Christ Church — one of North India's oldest churches, built in 1853. The colonial-era stone architecture and stained glass are worth the short detour even if you only have an hour to spare.
After lunch, head to Gilbert Trail — a flat, shaded walking path through deodar and pine forest with occasional valley viewpoints. It's an easy 3-4 km round trip, gentle enough for families, and a good way to shake off the drive.

Monkey Point is the highest point in Kasauli and the best spot to watch the sun set over the Shivalik ranges. On a clear evening you can see the plains stretching out below. Carry a light jacket — it cools down fast once the sun is behind the ridge.

Head back to Wanderer Stays for dinner at Chef Nikki's Platter, the property's own rooftop restaurant, open daily from 8 AM to 11 PM — no need to hunt for a restaurant in the dark on unfamiliar hill roads.
If you're visiting on a weekend, the terrace comes alive with live music and DJ nights, with an optional bonfire available at an additional charge — a relaxed way to end Day 1 without leaving the property.

Start Day 2 with the Timber Trail cable car ride — a short but scenic ropeway crossing over a forested valley near Parwanoo, about 30 minutes from Kasauli. It's the single most photographed experience in the area and worth doing before the midday crowds build up.

Spend your last few hours browsing the small cafés and bakeries along Mall Road before starting the drive back. Aim to leave by early afternoon if you're heading to Delhi, so you're not driving the highway stretch after dark.
Basing yourself in a private apartment rather than a hotel means you can cook a quick breakfast before Day 1's walks and store snacks for the drive back — small things that make a 2-day trip feel less rushed.
